A new tool can forecast if you’ll get Alzheimer’s — and what you can do to thwart the prediction

Researchers from the University of Melbourne have developed a tool called the Florey Dementia Index (FDI) or Florey Dementia Risk Score (FDRS) that can predict whether a person will develop Alzheimer’s in the next few years with an accuracy of about 85%.

It’s an online survey for over 65-year-olds to complete with their GP, and it identifies factors that increase the likelihood of dementia — such as high blood pressure, depression and loneliness —  so that these things can be addressed and the disease can be averted.
